Wine Club

Wine Club is Finally here!

Many of you have been asking, and we have finally delivered. Our wine club is launching, and we couldn’t be more excited! We have been putting together the pieces for a while, and feel like the wait has been worth it. We really wanted to make sure our Wine Club was unique and offered real value to all of you. For those of you who really like all the wines we produce, this is the best way to access all of our top wines. Or maybe you don’t always have time to make it down to wine country, but really love what we do. Well this is definitely for you.

The Benefits of our Wine Club are:

  • First access to new releases. Our newest wines will always be released first in wine club.
  • Exclusive access to the very first wine from our property: 2015 Pinot Noir – Senchuk Vineyard ($55). With only 30 cases available it is only going to be released in Wine Club
  • Access to Library Wines.  We want to keep life interesting, so every shipment will contain a Library wine that is no longer available anywhere else
  • Full detailed winemaking and tasting notes on all wines in the shipment including suggested food pairings
  • Interactive barrel blending seminar.  We will be turning up the “Geek-factor” and getting in-depth into how blending affects the final wine.  Eventually this will lead to a wine-club only wine!
  • Harvest winemaking experience.  Ever wanted to actually come and help us make the wine from the beginning?  There will be opportunities to really get your hands dirty.
  • Complimentary cheese trays in the tasting room when you call ahead

So you are probably wondering about the details:

  • 4 shipments a year of our best wines (Summer – August 1, Fall – October 1, Winter – December 1 and Spring – March 1) right to your door!
  • Choice of 12 bottle shipment with free shipping, or 6 bottle shipment with a small shipping fee
  • First shipment is for August 1.
  • Approximately $380-$480 per 12 bottle shipment, approximately $200-$280 per 6 bottle shipment.
  • Once you sign up, we will send you a reminder email 2 weeks before shipment date with the total cost of the shipment, and a few hints about which wines it contains. We will charge your credit card the day before shipping.

It will also contain a few surprises that we will announce closer to shipment date.

If you would like to sign up, please give us a call at 905-643-9795

Still not enough?
If that is still not enough Leaning Post in your life, then you can help support our winemaking dream by investing directly in our barrel program.  If you join our Wine Club and buy us a barrel you will be part of our Founder’s Barrel Club. You will receive all our Wine Club shipments, your name on your barrel in the winery and we will pay you back for the barrel with the equivalent value in wine! Not only do we repay the favour with our wine but at the end of three years you can have the barrel as a souvenir or receive a credit in the winery for more wine. If you’d like more information then talk to Nadia or Ilya and we will be happy to give you the details.

A huge thank you to everyone for your support so far! We wouldn’t be here without all of you. This is the next phase in this crazy wine journey that you are all taking with us.

As a sneak peak, here are our last 3 wine Club shipments:

Our latest Wine Club shipment is ready just in time for the Holidays.  We thought a perfect way to celebrate the season was a release of library wines that we think showcase the best that we do.  Tasting through some of our older vintages, we have chosen one wine for its longevity and history, and another for its freshness and depth despite its relative youth.

We are also releasing our very newest wines to all of you, our Wine Club members first! We have new vintages of Wismer Chardonnay, Lowrey Pinot, and for those getting 12 bottle shipments, a sneak-peak of our 2016 Gamay.

We like to think this shipment is about the past and the future. The holiday season is a wonderful time to get together with family and friends, reminisce about the past and get excited about what is coming in the new year! We feel these wines are great way to do that.

Library Wines

2009 Pinot Noir    $55
This is the wine that started our entire project.  Lowrey Vineyard really shines here in what is considered to be possibly the best vintage for Pinot Noir ever in Niagara.  This wine has now developed beautifully, with deep leafy/forest floor and mushroom along with leather and fresh soil dominating.  Yet, lovely wisps of dried cherries and lavender/floral poke through the bramble every so often.  Tannins have definitely rounded out, but are are still well balanced by good acidity.  Texture is silky-smooth leading to what is an unspeakably long finish.  The depth and complexity here is hard to fathom. Really spend some time thinking on this one!  Wonderful to see how this original wine has lasted and gained so much from aging.

2013 Merlot    $45
This wine is in a really great spot right now.  Still young, with plenty of time to age if you want it to, it opens up quickly to reveal wonderful cassis, raspberry, spearmint and cedar entwined with leather, bramble and toffee. The perfect balance of soft texture but powerful structure means this wine is in it for the long haul. An instant classic and perfect for this time of year.  Some of you missed this wine because it sold out so quickly last year, so we saved a little bit just for you!

New Releases

2015 Chardonnay – Wismer Foxcroft Vineyard    $35
Mature vines really display the wonderful minerality of the Twenty Mile Bench in Vineland. A late heat-wave in the autumn saved what was turning into a very difficult harvest.  Fantastic peach, pear and lime aromas intertwine with a slight limestone/reductive note on the nose. On the palate, pineapple, lemon and crème-brule play off a mineral base. A round, mouth-filling texture is balanced by good acidity leading to a long, supple finish.

2014 Pinot Noir – Lowrey Vineyard    $42
2014 was perhaps the best vintage we have had for Pinot Noir since 2009. A vintage with very moderate heat levels throughout, it really preserved delicate aromatics and acidity. The nose is beautiful with notes of Montmorency cherries and an intense floral complexity reminiscent of lilac and lavender. The palate follows the nose while adding a wonderful earthiness showing forest floor and beetroot as well as rose water, raspberry and smoked sausages. A medium bodied wine with fresh, young fruit and balanced acidity and tannin make this a wine that will age gracefully for 8-12 years.

120 cases produced

2016 Gamay – Wismer Armbrust Vineyard   $25
Very reminiscent of our 2013 Gamay, our style continues to progress. This Gamay unfolds on the nose with layers of black cherries, beets and plums. The palate shows wonderful softness and suppleness, with raspberry, spice and earth leading to notes of pepper and pan-drippings.  A mouth-filling texture meets a balancing acidity leading to an exceptionally long, round finish.  We like our Gamay to taste like Gamay but act like Pinot and this wine definitely delivers!

New Releases

Since you joined Wine Club you are already extra (wine) geeky, so you want descriptions of all the new releases:

2015 Riesling – The Geek   $35
Our second vintage of Geek Riesling is even more Geeky than the first. First, we took all the white-wine lees (from Chardonnay and Riesling) in our entire winery from 2015 vintage and put them in this wine. Then, we took all the lees from our 2014 Geek Riesling when it was finished and put them in too. After 2 years on all this extra lees, we filtered and bottled this truly unique wine. Our “Solara-lees” system will continue into future vintages until we can answer the question everyone has been asking; how much lees is too much lees? Only the Geek knows.

2016 Gamay – The Natural   $35
When a wine shows its quality from its very first moments then it can only be called “The Natural”. The Gamay grapes come from Wismer – Armbrust Vineyard. The only addition we made to this wine was yeast nutrient. Spontaneous primary fermentation with 100% whole clusters, spontaneous malo-lactic fermentation, no addition of sulphites no fining or filtering have brought forward one of the most unique wine we have ever released.

2016 Pinot Noir – The Freak    $45
Sometimes a wine wants to make itself, and show its inner “Freak”. The Pinot Noir grapes come from our estate Senchuk Vineyard. The only addition we made to this wine was yeast nutrient. 2013 Pinot Noir – Lowrey Vineyard    $42
Our original classic returns for another vintage. 2013 was a vintage with moderate heat levels thus preserving the delicate aromatics and acidity. The nose is beautiful with notes of Montmorency cherries and an intense floral complexity reminiscent of lilac and lavender.  The palate follows the nose while adding a wonderful earthiness showing forest floor and beetroot as well as rose water, raspberry and smoked sausages. A medium bodied wine with fresh, young fruit and balanced acidity and tannin make this a wine that will age gracefully for 6-8 years.

2013 Pinot Noir    $30
The first time we have ever produced this wine!  A blend of fruit from Lowrey and McNally vineyards, this wine shows a wonderful balance of floral and fruit in a style that is more approachable than our single-vineyard Pinot Noirs. Earthy and beety flavours frame a cherry and raspberry intensity.  Balanced acidity follows a soft and supple mouthfeel that will age for 3-4 years.
